The F-Prot Components
The OnDemand Scanner is the main program
for configuring the components of F-Prot Antivirus. Here,
you can scan your system for viruses, make multiple scan tasks
using the Advanced mode, check the effectiveness of your current
virus definition files, compare them with the latest ones
and start any of the components included with F-Prot Antivirus
for Windows (see below). The OnDemand Scanner in the commercial
edition of F-Prot Antivirus for Windows scans network drives
as well as local drives.
RealTime Protector
One of the central features in F-Prot Antivirus for Windows
is the RealTime Protector, which monitors all files accessed
by your system and denies access to infected, suspicious or
malicious files that may harm your system in any way. RealTime
Protector is always on the front line, watching files as they
are downloaded, opened, copied, etc.
Updater
This simple yet vital part of F-Prot Antivirus for Windows
handles the updates of your virus definition files. These
files contain information about all viruses F-Prot Antivirus
should detect and also contain a remedy for each one of them.
It can be set to download via the Internet (with or without
a proxy) or from a specified path on a local network.
Scheduler
Using the Scheduler, it is possible to set F-Prot Antivirus'
OnDemand Scanner to search for viruses at a specified date
and time. It also is possible to set the Updater component
to update the virus definition files regularly to keep your
system on alert when it comes to new viruses as they appear
every day.
Command Line
OnDemand Scanner
F-Prot Antivirus for DOS is included in F-Prot Antivirus for
Windows as there may be instances where a virus can lead to
Windows becoming inoperable. In these cases, F-Prot for DOS
can come in handy to disinfect the system, as long as DOS
is still functional.

Hardware Requirements
F-Prot Antivirus for Windows is designed to
operate on computers running Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000,
2003 and Windows XP. In addition, the software will run on
machines emulating the above operating systems.
The software requires nine megabytes of free disk space.
* For Windows 3.x and older, we recommend using F-Prot Antivirus
for DOS as an alternative.
